Adaptive Unstructured Grid Applications for Multi-element Airfoils/2001


Unstructured grids are generated for multi-element airfoils and the corresponding Euler and Navier- Stokes flow solutions are obtained around NLR7301 and NLHP geometries. The Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model is used for the viscous solutions. Sensor values for grid adaptation are calculated considering the global gradient changes of flow variables. Euler flow results for adaptive and nonadaptive grids are compared for single and multielement airfoils. Supersonic flow adaptation of an unstructured grid around NACA 0012 is also given. It is shown that grid adaptation has a major influence on the accuracy and efficiency of flow results.
